Larre’s Corner
You might remember that Grapevine High School freshman, Regan Staudt and 14 other Dallas-area crew members entered their 10-minute film in the Samsung Mobile Fresh Film Competition, the nation’s leading filmmaking program exclusively for teens. There were nine all-teen film crews, each of which were responsible for every aspect of film production including casting, location scouting, shooting, editing and creating the soundtrack. Regan’s crew was assigned to produce a drama about a teenage girl who runs away from home with a friend, titled Saturday. They entered this film into the competition.
Well, when the envelope was opened, the winner was Miss Staudt and her fellow crewmembers. The film was shown at the American Film Institute Fest and their award was presented with all the glam that only Hollywood can deliver, including a photo shoot and meetings with several leading directors and actors. Now, they have also been asked to attend the AFI Fest this coming March in Dallas, where their film will be shown. Congratulation, Miss Staudt!
